Catalytic Oxidiser

The Econabator Catalytic Oxidiser offers a proven technology to meet today’s stringent air emission standards. It will treat air streams containing volatile organic compounds (VOC) and hazardous air pollutants (HAP). The central feature of the system is the fluidised bed.  The non-precious metal oxide catalyst is in pellet form, which is lightly fluidised when in normal use.  During fluidisation there is slight attrition to the catalyst surface, exposing fresh catalyst sites and prevents poisoning, suppression or surface coating of the catalyst. The Econabator is therefore ideal for process streams which contain condensable compounds that would normally coat fixed bed catalytic systems.

The high activity level of the catalyst ensures excellent removal efficiency when treating both chlorinated and non-chlorinated compounds. This is especially valuable when treating air streams from soil and ground water remediation projects.

Fluidised Bed

The support arrangement ensures uniform air distribution and accurate pressure drop characteristics. The standard catalyst depth is 200mm. Removal efficiency can be simply increased by adding additional catalyst, an operation that can be carried out whilst on line.

Heat Exchanger

A recuperative heat exchanger is available to recover the released heat. Typical plate removal efficiencies are 50, 60 and 70%. Pay back is normally within 12 months. A software package is available which allows heat exchanger selection to be optimised depending on VOC loadings.
